Are you drinking enough water?

Such a common discussion with my clients, so I have decided it will make a great first blog for my page!

Brain fog

Water has so many benefits for the body.  I like to explain it with using the idea that our bodies veins and arteries are similar to pipes.  If you don’t drink enough water, then the pipes are slow and stagnate, the blood is thick and the heart has to work harder to pump the blood around the body.  The body doesn’t receive the fresh blood and its benefits effectively, the toxins take longer to flush out, muscles can cramp, the brain is foggy, digestion is slower and quite commonly thirst is mistaken for hunger, the colons become dehydrated too and that has other effects like constipation…

Staying hydrated and drinking 2 litres a day, more if you exercise, can change the whole picture.  The more hydrated you are, the clearer the pipes run.  The blood is thinner and the heart doesn’t have to work overtime, the oxygenated blood is pushed around the body at a good rate and also the toxins flushed quicker, muscles won’t tend to cramp (especially if your magnesium levels are healthy – maybe my next blog), the brain is clearer and alert, your digestive system is more effective and you don’t feel as hungry, your colons are hydrated and you feel better because your body isn’t holding onto that crap (pardon the pun!).

Having a couple of litre bottles filled with water so you can monitor your intake, your body will adapt and you won’t have to pee every 5 minutes I promise.

Another little tip is to put a pinch of Himaylan salts in the water.  As this is a mineral it will help your body absorb the water instead of flushing it right out.

So many great reasons why you should drink more water, such a simple thing and such amazing benefits.
